Site Details

The recently re-developed Gorey District Park is situated to the north of the town. Since 2019, the original District Park has been expanded to combine the former “Show Grounds” to create a 13-acre modern municipal space for the enjoyment of the public.

The existing park boasted a playground and one of the first municipal skate parks. The new development has seen the addition of modern play equipment to extend the playground. A small amphitheatre is located near to the playground which has been used by children’s entertainers at family playdays. The former changing rooms have been renovated and extended. The new extension incorporates a café with indoor and outdoor seating. Equipped to a high standard and fully accessible, these facilities will be open shortly.

Extended walkways and footpaths loop around the park bringing the visitor to other attractions such as the wildflower / biodiversity garden, the Garden of Remembrance, boules court, soccer pitch and the Sensory Garden built by Gorey Tidy Towns.

As the park is formally handed over from the contractors, further developments are being planned. A pocket forest will give the visitor a glimpse of an evolving natural woodland. A dog park is being developed with agility training elements where our canine visitors can explore. Gorey District Park is a haven near the town centre and we hope that their experience will bring visitors back time and again.
