May 2024

Wexford Golf Club was the venue for the final tree planting project of this season’s One Hundred Million Trees Project.

This community-driven initiative has already seen native irish trees planted in 62 sites across the country, with 161,180 planted since November 2023.

April 2024

Unlike most of the other 400 small sites the 100 Million Trees Project has been offered so far this year, it was not part of a field on a farm but rather was unused land in an urban setting.

Cllr Fleming welcomed everyone and thanked the Clonroche Development Association, Richard Mulcahy, Wexford County Council and Uniphar for making this project happen.

The morning of hard work digging and planting ended with all the workers enjoying tea, sandwiches and scones back at the convent.

On Saturday 10 February, Ballymun Kickhams and former Dublin stars Dean and Barney Rock helped members of their GAA Club and the local community to plant 1,800 native Irish Trees at Pairc Ciceam in Ballymun as part of the 100 Million Trees Project.

January 2024

The 100 Million Trees Project is a national initiative developed by brothers, Richard and David Mulcahy, which aims to see the planting of 100 million native Irish trees across the island of Ireland over a 10 year period. 

The project’s ambitious aim will be achieved through densely planting between 1,000 and 2,500 native Irish trees at a time across small areas of land using ‘the Miyawaki method’.

It’s part of the One Hundred Million Trees Project which is led by brothers Richard and David Mulcahy. The initiative aims to plant up to 250,000 native broadleaf trees across the country this season.

The 2,500 native Irish trees were planted on land donated by the monks at Glenstal Abbey in Murroe in an effort to create a mini forest, leading to increased biodiversity and a carbon sink.
