Site Details

Servier (Ireland) Industries Ltd, Arklow, County Wicklow.

Servier (Ireland) Industries Ltd (Servier Arklow) is a pharmaceutical manufacturing site ‘with a difference’. Established in 1989 on a 60 acre greenfield site, Servier Arklow is home to over 500 employees, producing 160 million boxes of medicine per year for our patients.

However, we are also home to a wonderful woodland, having planted 11.000 native Irish trees over an 11 year period for a programme we call ‘Promise to Plant’.  We also share our space with almost 400,000 Irish Black Bees who moved in with us back in 2018 and have produced copious amounts of organic honey over the last five years.  Our honey and home-made apple jelly is sold to staff each year with the proceeds going to Arklow Cancer Support.

For over 30 years we have been active in preserving and enhancing the habitats on our site which include hedgerows dating back to the 1600s & 1700s, woodland, wet meadow and stream.  We have also introduced a pond, an orchard, a wild flower meadow and a vegetable garden, the proceeds of which are given to local charities. In the last few years we have followed the ‘Don’t Mow, Let it Grow’ concept which has seen carpets of Clover, Dandelion, Selfheal, amongst others, appear all over our site. Recently we have had Winter & Summer bird surveys conducted so we can take actions to welcome more of our feathered friends visiting from near and far.
