our proud sponsors for the 2025/26 planting season

After sponsoring the planting of 201,000 trees in the 2023/24 season, followed by a further 215, 905 trees in the 2024/2025 season, Uniphar will continue its partnership for the 2025/2026 season.

The 100M trees project caught my imagination as soon as I heard about it. It is creative, regenerative and practical.

These mini forests have wonderful effects on plant and animal biodiversity in a community, on air quality and often on local morale – they put something beautiful and sustainable in a place that was maybe scrub land or wasteland before. That’s before we even talk about their use as ‘carbon sinks’.”

Ger Rabbette, CEO

100 Million Trees Project

Our aim is to plant 100 million native Irish trees over the next decade

The project’s ambitious aim will be to densely plant up to 2,500 native Irish trees per Mini Forest in ¼ acre sites using ‘the Miyawaki method’. The project will require an estimated 10,000 acres of land from as little as .10 of an acre to .25 of an acre from amongst Ireland’s entire stock of 20.8 million acres and because the areas required for planting are small – covering approximately between one and two basketball courts

help make this project happen

You can help this project happen by offering a site where we can plant a mini forest

get involved in the project

If you would like to be involved in the project, and if you have a suitable ¼ acre site and wish to have a mini forest we will donate the trees and plant the mini forest Free of Charge – all you have to do is submit a form.

you can make this project a success

We planted 713,145 trees in the first 3 planting seasons

In 2022/2023

18 sites 20,400 Irish native trees were planted in 6 counties on the island of Ireland.

In 2023/2024

a further 80 sites 201,840 Irish native trees were planted in 19 counties.

In 2024/2025

a further 163 sites 490.905 Irish native trees were planted in 27 counties

how we do this

The Miyawaki method

The Miyawaki Method champions dense planting, using a diverse mix of native species. This approach not only accelerates growth but also enhances biodiversity, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem in a fraction of the time compared to traditional methods. It transforms even the most degraded soils into thriving mini-forests, offering a rapid and effective carbon sink.

The Impact

core carbon reduction

2500 trees

2500 native Irish trees absorbs around 60 tonnes of CO₂ per year

5 homes

The average Irish household of 4 produces about 11.6 tonnes CO₂ yearly, so 5 produce ~60 tonnes
